1.6 Project Work in California, USA

• New Zealand earthquake engineers have been actively involved in earthquake mitigation work in California over many years. Members of the NZ MEER Consortium involved in current project work there include Beca International Ltd and Holmes Consulting Group. Many seismic assessment and mitigation projects have been undertaken involving bridges, residential, commercial and public sector buildings and other infrastructure. Specific completed projects include the seismic isolation retrofitting of the University of Southern California, Teaching Hospital in Los Angeles, Berkely Civic Centre, and the seismic retrofit of several major bridges.
