The Institute of Geological & Nuclear Sciences Limited (GNS) is the primary multidisciplinary earth science research organisation in New Zealand that is responsible for operating a national geophysical network. Our expertise covers a broad range of earth science disciplines including natural hazards (earthquakes, volcanoes, landslides and tsunami), resource exploration (oil, gas, coal, geothermal, minerals, and groundwater), and isotope geochemistry (dating, gas and water chemistry, industrial nucleonics). GNS also specialises in the spatial analysis of hazards and risk on GIS platforms through innovative modeling and visualisation of this information.
